My Coke Fest is a 12-hour music marathon held twice a year: Once in Johannesburg and once in Cape Town, organised by Coca Cola in collaboration with 5FM, the country’s biggest radio station.
In 2007 the line-up included Hoobastank, Staind and 3 Doors Down, along with exciting South African bands such as The Springbok Nude Girls, The Parlotones, Evolver and Taxi Violence.
The 2008 line-up
The all-star, multi-award winning line-up includes US Rock sensation GOOD CHARLOTTE,
Britain’s “Best Live Act” KAISER CHIEFS,
Sound Garden and Audioslave front-man CHRIS CORNELL,
“Supermassive” MUSE,
and the multi-platinum, Grammy-winning KOЯN.
On the local front, the first band to be announced is one of SA’s top rock outfits, PRIME CIRCLE.

um, may I make a suggestion? The Joburg date is not suitable….most people are going to Splashy fen that weekend, as its the long weekend and the majority of people from Durbs and jozi go to that, so would essentially be missing out on the concert – not nice!

Ive already bought my flight and ticket for joburg… does suck its over splashy weekend, but hey, Ive supported splashy for 12 years now, we gotta support the international acts too, to keep em coming back, and that in turns, supports local music. But i was wondering if we ever get a chance to get to see heavy metal bands such as Trivium or Children Of Bodom. It woud be the best thing in the world to see such bands. BigConcerts, please do not make 30 secs headline! Muse and even Korn both have long, illustrious careers. Muse has been included in many best of lists including best live act and best prog rock album and Korn has won a Grammy, while 30 secs have only 2 albums to numbers like 5 (Muse) and more (Korn). To have 30 secs headline just coz of a poll is an outrage, especially when there isn’t even a link to the “vote once” poll on BigConcerts.com

Muse are absolutely amazing. Now don’t get me wrong, 30 Seconds To Mars and Korn are great, but if they headline I will kill myself. You will find that Muse have the most devoted fanbase of all the bands, and have been voted Best Live Act multiple times by multiple sources. They mix all genres together in their live shows, mixing in riffs from jazzy stuff (piano things), metal (Rage Against The Machine), and classic rock (Led Zeppelin) to please everyone. I GUARANTEE you, if any other act headlines, Muse fans won’t be able to get into it, but just LISTEN ONCE to Muse live stuff and you’ll realise that EVERYBODY will be able to get into Muse. I mean, don’t go by that poll, for Gods sake there isn’t even a link to it on BigConcerts.co.za.
Otherwise, good job on the bands you got, they’re all amazing apart from Good Charlotte, wish Van Coke was playing in Jhb

All the bands were excellent, muse were great but I feel they couldn’t do all of their pyrotechnics as they do in other countries. Best Stage performance and interaction with the crowd I will give to koRn, 30 seconds and Chris Cornelle. koRn presented a whole other presence on stage then that of the other bands, what do expect of a new metal 14+ years in the industry IMHO… Great Success…except the mud….
